Pricing

Shop rate

$150 per hour, plus materials

Every service in the shop is billed at the same rate, with a two hour minimum. Materials are listed separately, and the whole thing is broken out in a written estimate before any work starts.

Two hour minimum

Why there is a minimum

Any job gets set up, masked, worked and cleaned up after, whether it is one hour or ten. The minimum covers the setup so the hourly rate does not have to.

What jobs run

Hours, not guesses

A full restoration usually lands between 800 and 1000 hours. A full paint job runs 100 to 160 hours. Smaller repairs are on this page with posted rates.

In writing

A written estimate

Rust and prep cannot be priced sight unseen, so the estimate is written stage by stage. You approve each phase before it starts and you hear from us if something opens up worse than it looked.

Most jobs here start around $5,000. Bodywork and paint run in stages, and a job worth setting up for is a job worth doing properly.

Materials are billed at cost and listed line by line on the estimate.

Parts sourcing is priced per job, at cost plus the hours it takes to track the part down.

Selected

Bumper spot damage

$599

One area of damage on the bumper cover, repaired and refinished so it matches the rest of the car.

Dents: a panel with more than one size of dent is priced as a combination of the rates above, and multiple dents on the same panel get discounted.

Enclosed vehicle transport

Billed by the kilometre rather than by the hour, because what wears the truck out is distance, not clock time.

Running empty to you

$1.25per km

The leg out to wherever the vehicle is sitting, before it goes on the deck.

Loaded

$4per km

Your vehicle on the trailer. Non runners, fresh paint, or anything you would rather not tow open.

Questions

About these prices

What is the shop rate?

$150 per hour plus materials, with a two hour minimum, across every service. It is the same rate whether the job is metal work, paint, undercoating or fabrication.

Are these posted prices final?

They are the posted rates for a normal sized car in normal condition. XL vehicles, SUVs and full sized pickups add 20 percent, and anything unusual gets looked at first.

Why is the work estimated in phases?

Because rust and prep are partly hidden until the panel comes apart. You get an accurate written estimate for each phase, you approve it before it starts, and you get a call before anything changes. That is the honest way to price work where the damage is not all visible on day one.

What needs an in person estimate?

Major bumper damage, any dented panel with paint damage and any metal damage past three inches. Those swing too far to price off a photo.

Why does a scratch cost more than a spot repair?

A key scratch runs across the panel, so the whole panel gets refinished. Refinishing a full panel is the only way it blends instead of showing as a patch.

Where is restoration and paint pricing?

Those are estimated stage by stage in writing, because rust and prep are impossible to price sight unseen. The services page walks through how that works.
